FACT CHECK
Why do the Democratic candidates appear on both the Democratic and Republican Primary Ballots?
Cross-filing is a distinctive feature of school board elections in Pennsylvania. Cross-filing is designed to ensure that the focus remains on educational excellence and community service. By allowing candidates to participate in both party primaries, the system encourages the election of individuals who are committed to improving schools and supporting students free from the constraints of partisan politics. This approach not only benefits the school boards but also enhances the overall quality of education by promoting unity, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the future of the community.
In the past, both parties' HHSB candidates have crossed filed. However, the Republican candidates chose not to cross-file this year. That means only the Democratic candidates will appear on both Primary Election ballots. Please vote for all five Democratic endorsed candidates–Madison, Robert, Ashley, Jennifer, and Katherine.
